Promoting my Blog

Above we see the Facebook inbox I sent to one member of my family, which I repeatedly sent to a numerous amount of family and friends. I chose to use Facebook as a way of promoting my blog as it is the biggest social networking site to date. I also set the link for my blog as my 'Facebook status' and this allowed several people to share it, meaning that the link would appear on there profile as well as mine.

Above is the promotion of my blog taking to my own personal twitter account. I chose this as a form of promotion as well as I use this social networking site regularly and have an excellent understanding of how it works. I chose to tweet on my personal account as I already have over 650+ followers meaning a wider audience my blog would reach to! As well as starting of a trend (which means a popular topic on twitter) of #BBmediablog which would get my blog advertised and stood for Bradley Bow Media Blog. Both of these sites allow an easy access to blogspot which is why I chose both the social networking sites and the blog site to create the blog, as they all work together which shows my consideration and thought into the process of promoting. Twitter unlike Facebook allows anyone to visit your profile and tends to have more of a formal approach of different topics which will be covered in trends. By using these two social networking sites it allows two different audiences to see and perceive my blog which I believe is successful.

History of Music Videos

The definition of a music video is a 3-4 minute film (usually) combing elements of imagery, video and sound, which are usually relevant to the lyrics or song itself. The idea of a music video is to promote the song itself and business wise produce further sales which people often forget considering being a singer is a job as this is also a form of marketing and advertising combined. Music videos themselves started at the early 1900’s and from the timeline I have created it shows the development and influence of the ages that have created and aspects such as Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ music video has inspired likes like Lady GaGa’s telephone music video by using the technique of telling a story through a video or song. Another aspect that has influenced music videos of this age is MTV. They based their business on music videos and were the start of many too do this and considering music videos have been around for a long time, music videos weren’t at there peak in till the 1980’s when MTV aired certain bands such as “The Buggles”, which could have caused its success. Editing plays a big part in the music video industry, as this is one of many techniques to make them so successful. One example would be the speed of the video, such as fast-forward or slow motion. These two methods have been used mainly a lot in contemporary music videos use a variety of styles of film techniques such as animation, live action filming and performance based approaches like abstract film. Some music videos even take two techniques and blend them, for example, animation and live action blend. Over the years the development of music videos started from the early 1900's, the timeline I have made shows the change and inspiration from artists such as Michael Jackson and Lady GaGa have had on the music industry, as well as technology such as YouTube and iTunes, and the change of fictional videos including irrelevant images to the lyrics as well as matching images to the lyrics.

First Questionnaire + Development

Above is my first draft of the Questionnaire which I will give to the general public in random to gather specific evidence in not only what the music industry holds, but what is popular in this day and age as well what is a contemporary genre and what target audience does it appeal too. This information will give me a clearer insight into not only what the music industry holds, but everyone else's opinions too.

Time Managment Timetable

Above we see the Excel document I created in order to show a clear understanding of each task and when it should be done by. Not only does colour coding make the timetable look aesthetically pleasing, but also allows you to understand and see each task individually under the allocated time easily. I believe by setting it out like this makes this unique as well as completing the function of what a timetable should have to do.

Log Diary Week 1 - History of Music Videos

This weeks progress for the History of Music Videos was an easy going week in my eyes. I successfully managed to complete an knowledgeable understanding of previous history in the music video industry and also how it had had an affect on society today. I also have looked at examples of artists that have had a domain on the history such as Lady GaGa and Michael Jackson.

Brief

With my interest and passion for music, I believe this brief will be appropriate. I will put together a music video for a song which hasn't already got one by selecting a genre, using audience and target audience feedback too provide the most suitable for my target audience. Furthermore I will also design and create the website homepage for the artist as well as the cover for the album. Below we see some trailers which I have analysed as well, these made me come to the decision of putting together music video. I wasn't as passionate and thought doing a trailer was the easy option and really wanted to challenge myself, therefore keeping the annotations and notes on the review of the trailers will help me and show my further knowledge of the media industry.
