This is a magazine poster for the band Red Seas Atlas to advertise their new album. I chose this poster because it is from a indie/alternative band alike Ben Howard therefore it would help me understand how to market the genre and understand the branding for less commercialised artists.
One thing you can highlight straight away is there band logo which is in the centre, then the use of high manipulation to then create this 3D effect of the logo falling apart. This edit inspires me for it draws all attention to the middle of the page, its playing on a shared convention (the logo which most people will recognise) and then presenting it in a new form which will draw the viewers attention in to. The logo itself is the only colour on the poster as well as we see the bright colours contrasting against the duller ones which is another marketing strategy of catching the viewers attention by being bold and colourful.
Although the poster is simple and quite comical in the sense of its design, we see a sense of professionalism with a colour scheme and consistent font seen throughout.
I like the simplistic theme which surrounds this image with the lots of blank space which acts as a frame around the logo. Not only this but with my research into simplistic inspirations I am able to walk away with an understanding of what I want to do, and how I want to incorporate some of there work into my own.
