Ancillary Task: Poster Design 1

This magazine poster is one for the highly anticipated album of Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way'. Lady GaGa known for her eye dropping looks and unique stage name, meaning you'd expect something completely out there within her advertising campaign when in reality the close up poster really isn't as daring as we thought it could be. She does have a different visible bone structure but the actually breakdown of the poster means that we can handle what we are seeing, which surprises the viewer as this is something different compared to the dress made out of meat. Maybe this is because her brand was becoming predictable (the predictable was weird) so therefore she stripped it back, this is what I like about this poster, its one step ahead of the game. There is still shared knowledge of here distinctive looks as people will easily be able to recognise it is her even in the 'GAGA' text was not there. However, this poster has bound to of caused controversy in a way of promoting the artist and album furthermore.

'GAGA' is the only text seen on the poster and is styled with religious cross symbols that have replaced the full stop punctuation, the cross represents religion but is also a fashion symbol at this current moment in time which could make it more appealing to young girls reaching its target market.

Another successful aspect within this poster is the contrast between colour, although the focal point and the bulls eye composition is the background image, the bright red which layers this stands out more, but its the image we are drawn in by the unusual face shape and size of the visuals.
